Hk P2000sk Vs Glock 26 - Heckler & Koch manufactures one of the highest quality firearms in the world. From machine guns to rifles to pistols, the company has built a reputation for solid and reliable weapons. I was impressed (not literally) with the quality and craftsmanship displayed in the P30L in .40 S&W when I reviewed that pistol a few months ago and the P2000 series pistols are no exception. They are more or less the same gun (at least on the inside). They also share an instruction manual.

I was loaned a technically used (but we don't think it's ever been shot) P2000SK (subcompact) for review by good friends Duane. He had one at his gun shop that he let me take home for this record. Usually, if he has a used rifle that's for trade (not shipping), he'll let me borrow it... he's a good guy. (Not only because of that... you have to know!)

So I took the little one home and walked him through. Let's look at the gun first, and then we'll finish with something about the targets - the company.

The P2000SK is a smaller version of the P2000. This HK pistol is the son of the HK USP, if you will. Ergonomics has been improved with the new model. It is designed to reduce handling stress while increasing comfort during handling and shooting.

The P2000 is based on Browning's short-recoil type with no link and cocking barrel, just like the USP.

* The chart below shows the night vision version that comes with 3 magazines, but the one I shot had two) Available configurations

Here's a screenshot from the HK site explaining all the ways you can get the P2000SK... They don't make many models, to be sure.

Gee Plate For Glock 26

We see this gun coming in a few different flavors. The ones I recorded L.E.M.D.A.O. trigger â Law enforcement module, double action only. What it means? Well, in my previous review of the P30L, I spent some time talking about the DA/SA mod that uses the pistol, with the decocker button on the back of the slide (the best place to de-cock in my opinion). This gun does not have that button, making the L.E.M.D.A.O. version

L.E.M.D.A.O. trigger is, without any techno-geek, D.A.O. trigger system, where the hammer is partially pre-cocked, so less pressure is required to actuate. In the specifications we see that the first D.A. the pull will be around 11.5 pounds with aftershocks around 4.5 pounds. Now we know CZ style DA/SA triggers that will have a hammer drop of about 12-13 pounds, and will go into SA mode when the hammer is cocked – my CZ variant SAR. K2P does just that and is a great shooter. The difference is that HK L.E.M.D.A.O. trigger, hammer stays down â YES all the time. The trigger IS lighter...I fired a couple of shots going back on target, that's for sure. In fact, I'll make sure the trigger pull is easier on both the first DA shot and the next SA.

The âP2000 SK is available with the launch system introduced in the 2001 USP Compact âLEMâ (Legal Amendment). This unique cocking hammer system combines the advantages of a cocking component (constant degree of trigger pull and short trigger travel from first to last shot) with a double-action hammer system. The LEM/CDA trigger pull is reduced to 7.3 to 8.5 pounds of pressure (32.5 to 37.8 N), compared to the 12 to 15 pounds (53.4 to 66.7 N) found in many conventional double-action pistols. . An optional adjustment by an HK certified gunsmith can bring the trigger pull to 5.5 pounds (24.5 N). The use of an improved trigger system enhances ease of use and safety in the comfortable and innovative operation of the trigger that prevents accidental firing. And in the event of an ammo-related misfire, all it takes is an extra second or third activation press, without having to pull the slide back first, to bring the Subcompact back up again.

OK...we get it...touch to activate made easy. Yes, but it's a pretty big deal. Those of you who shoot revolvers appreciate the smoother, lighter DA pull I know. And, if you run a 1911, you're probably used to a sharp SA pull of about 4 pounds... This gun does both and does it well. I was really impressed with the launcher... it was better than the other HK launcher I reviewed. But... it looks like it is. That's the point.

Those are the main parts. Now, a word from this lefty shooter on the two reasons I REALLY like these HKs….

First, publishing a magazine. This pistol, like most non-Americanized, original German pistols (Walther PPS M1, I'm talking to you!), uses a paddle release under the trigger. This is a two-sided way to correct a magazine issue. It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, it works. I was pulling out the mag without thinking about it.

Here's the photo release for the P30L...it's the same as the P2000SK.

Price Drop** Hk P2000 .40 S&w

As you can see, the magazine post is easy to use on both sides. Another thing I like is the ambi slide release…

Here it is to the right of the gun. You can see the 'gap' where the pin went in to remove the slide. Another thing that surprises me is the length of leverage that HK puts on the slide... the length gives you more leverage when you press down on it, making it easier to release the slide. Good ideas, HK.

I went through a lot of ammo when testing this gun. I am not endorsed by Federal or any other ammo company, so what I shot was what I had on hand...Winchester ``white box'' 115 grain factory loads and my favorite 9mm handloader, cast 124 grains (powder coated) Lee round carry Long Shot powder over 4 grains. I did not fire any defensive ammunition. Here are some ballistic numbers from these two loads...

Hk P2000sk Vs Glock 26

That doesn't prove anything, other than what these two loads did in this particular gun. I'm only including a few of you because many are like me - I want to know how the shorter barrel handles different loads. I don't have to put 40 different loads through this gun because we have optimized the ammo today for very effective short barrels. It would be a good idea to run your favorite defensive load through this gun and be confident in its performance. There are several You Tube videos of guys (with more time on their hands than me) testing 9mm ammo in ballistic gels/milk pails/denim layers/hippo skin (OK, just kidding)/etc. Suffice it to say: this gun was accurate and reliable. Here are some of the targets I shot...

P2000sk Or Usp Compact Or P30sk

You will see that both goals show a decent team. Mine shot a little low, the WWB was mostly centered on the target. The left target shows 10 rounds and the right 20. I shot it from hand, standing, at 10 yards. Jerry Miculek one. I didn't, so take these goals with a grain of salt...

When I review a gun like this – great reputation and “street cred†– solid performance, I don't worry too much about the targets I shoot with it. Really, the only reason I included these targets is so you know I shot this gun. And I shot. I put dozens of loads in it and many factory loads. Why, if I really didn't have to do it? â Because it was a fun shoot. I just love to shoot, and I can shoot 100 yards or more in my backyard, so it's quick and easy. I took advantage of shooting a gun with an MSRP of $799. I shot both flat and in the finger stretching magazine. I preferred longer.

If you haven't shot an HK pistol, you need to look it up – it's a high quality item, Clark.

Before we wrap up, let's take a look at the company and a little background on it...you can check out my previous article and the history of HK I included in it. It's an interesting read. It describes how three former Mauser engineers from Oberndorf, Germany rose from the ashes of World War II to become one of the most competent arms manufacturing companies in the world. It's worth a look.
